Biological control of spider mite - Feltiella acarisuga

Gall midges are found almost worldwide. The Feltiella larvae feed exclusively on spider mites. They are often introduced but from May to September also occur spontaneously in numerous crops. Feltiella creeps up on its enemy and uses its mouthparts to immobilize it. They then suck out the contents of the spider mite. They are aggressive and adapt the amount of food they consume to the density of the spider mite population.
